Volume: The Conviction Meter

How many shares agreed with the move.

Volume counts shares traded in a period. A breakout on triple average volume shows real participation; the same move on thin volume often fades.

Volume spikes cluster around news, earnings, and index rebalancing.

Read volume with price, never alone: rising price plus rising volume is healthy; rising price on shrinking volume is a warning.
